DYNO TUNING

EINOXTUNING is a Dynojet approved tuning center in Cape Coral. Our personnel has been thoroughly trained and is highly knowledgeable about the usage of the Dynamometer.

You can find us listed on the manufacturers website at : http://www.dynojet.com/dyno_centers/list_automotive.aspx

If you are not familiar with tuning we might give you some valuable information here.

WHAT IS DYNO TUNING ?

Dyno Tuning is a systematic approach to tune engines by  determining the actual condition and capability of the engine first and then increasing power and torque by fine tuning after incorporating modifications and adjustments.

It is an easy 3-step process :

Step 1
First step to tuning is to do a couple Dyno runs in order to determine how your engine performs, which particular problems or points of concern you have and what you actually would like to achieve with the tuning like increasing torque, horse powers or even mileage etc.

Step 2
After gathering the numbers and identifying potential causes for missing performance etc. our head mechanic will sit down with you and make suggestions for necessary modifications

and/or adjustments to lead to the perfection of your vehicle’s performance.

Step 3
After making the necessary adjustments and fine tuning and/or installing/replacing performance parts you will get what you were looking for – the best performance !

WHAT IS A DYNAMOMETER (DYNO) ?

A dynamometer, or dyno as it is generally called, is a machine used for testing and measuring the performance of vehicle engines. With a dyno you can have a car drive on a rotating drum at almost any speed and measure the computed horsepower and torque by how fast and hard the drum spins, by what the mixture of the exhaust gas is etc.

Our Dyno measures up to 1,500 hp and 200 mph and is being operated by the WinPEP7 Software with Ignition Wire Inductive Tachometer Pickup Leads, Air Actuated Brake System and Automatic Conditions Measurement (absolute pressure, air temp, etc.)

WHAT IS TUNING ?

An engine performs best with a correct ratio of air to fuel called stoichiometric mixture. That stoichiometric mixture is usually 14 parts air to 1 part fuel in idle and 12.6 parts air to 1 part fuel in full throttle. This is the case for any non-turbo, non-supercharged engine. For turbo and supercharged engines this ratio also is 14 parts air to 1 part fuel in idle but between 11.8 and 12 parts air to 1 part fuel in full throttle

When the car is running on the dyno the exhaust gas is analyzed to determine if the mixture is correct. Too much fuel means the car is running "rich", too much air means the car is running "lean". To correct any fuel ratio differences changes are then made to the car’s fuel injection or carburetors to bring out the highest potential of the engine.

This is just one example how an engine can be tuned. There is more ways like by adding performance parts to the engine or its environment so power can be increased.

EINOXTUNING also does Chip Tuning which means that the electronic control unit of the car will get a changed data chip which will take care of performance problems or other issues.

These chips can be programmed by us with special software like CROME to accommodate all changes that are necessary or even requested by you.

When measuring the engine numbers you will get a printout that you can take with you

Actual data chart of a Honda Prelude

The lines in the chart usually indicate horsepower at given RPMs and torque measured in foot/pounds at given RPMs. Another graph indicates the air/fuel ratio as the car goes through the RPM range. With the help of that you can see whether the engine operates “rich” or “lean”.
